YFIRLIT

Námskeið í íshellaleiðsögn er kennsla/mat sem tekur tvo daga og fer fram í/við íshelli og innan dyra. Farið er yfir almenn atriði er snerta íshellaleiðsögn sem og viðbrög við slysum. Farið er yfir; uppbyggingu íshella, áhættustjórnun, leiðarval, akstur að íshellum, samskipti við gesti og hópstjórnun.

FORKRÖFUR

Gerð er krafa um að þátttakendur á námskeiðinu íshellaleiðsögn uppfylli eftirfandi forkröfur.
• Að hafa lokið Jökla 1 með jákvæðri umsögn.
• Að hafa farið að lágmarki í 10 daga í jöklalandslag til að auka persónulega færni.

FÆRNISMAT

Matið er kennsla/stöðumat. Lagt er mat á færni í samskiptum við gesti og þekkingu á jöklum.
Nemendur eru metnir heilt yfir alla tvo dagana í samræmi við helstu áhersluatriði
námsskrá félagsins.
Uppbyggilegar og raunhæfar ábendingar eru gefnar af leiðbeinendum við enda hvers
námskeiðs og eftir hvern dag sé þess þörf.

RÉTTINDI

Íshellaleiðsögn er hliðar námskeið við jöklanámskeið/Hard Ice sem veitir réttindi til að starfa í íshellum undir merkjum Félags Fjallaleiðsögumanna á Íslandi. Að færnismati loknu öðlast sá sem stenst lágmarkseinkunn, réttindi til þess að starfa undir merkjum AIMG í íshellum í jaðri skriðjökla eða í íshelli ofar á jökli. Íshellaréttindi haldast í hendur við jöklaréttindi AIMG:
Hard Ice 1 + Íshellanámskeið: Veitir réttindi til að starfa í íshellum í jökuljaðri, þar sem aðgengi er gott og ekki þarf að ferðast um á jökli.
Hard Ice 2 + Íshellanámskeið: Veitir réttindi til að starfa í íshellum í jaðri sem og ofar á jöklum.
Hard Ice 3 + Íshellanámskeið: Veitir réttindi til að starfa sem yfirleiðsögumaður í íshellum hvort sem er í jarði eða ofar á jökli.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This assessment/instructional course is two days and takes place in an ice cave and indoors. Main topics of ice cave guiding and how to respond to accidents. Such as; how ice caves form, risk management, route selection, drive to the caves, communication with clients, and group management.

PREREQUISITES:

* Have completed Hard Ice 1 with positive feedback from the lead instructor
* Have a minimum of 10 day’s in glacier terrain to increase personal skills.

EVALUATION:

The evaluation is an instructional/status assessment. The main topics of the assessment are communication with guests and glacier knowledge. Students will be evaluated throughout the course according to the course curriculum set by the Association of Icelandic Mountain Guides.

Constructive and realistic feedback will be given by the instructors at the end of each course, and at the end of a given day if needed.

CERTIFICATION:

Ice cave guiding course is a side course by the Hard Ice courses. Upon completion of this course, participants are certified to guide in ice caves at the terminal by the glaciers or higher up on the outlet glacier, as AIMG guides

Hard Ice 1 + Ice cave guiding: Gives certification to guide in ice caves in the terminal area by the glacier, where access is easy and it is not needed to step on the outlet glacier.

Hard Ice 2 + Ice cave guiding: Gives certification to guide in ice caves in the terminal area by the glacier and on top of the outlet glacier.

Hard Ice 3 + Ice cave guiding: Gives certification to be a lead guide at the ice caves both at the terminal and on top of the outlet glacier.
